I had a lot of fun putting this slideshow together from Meredith and Ewan’s wedding day. I’ve been working on it all this week and finally got it put together with the music last night. Hope you enjoy!
A slideshow can be added to any full session package. Just ask about them when you book with me.
I don’t often do wedding photography, as my passion lies in newborn and family portraits. However when the opportunity arose to capture my good friend Meredith’s wedding, I jumped at the chance!
So a month ago I flew across to Sydney and made my way to Newcastle where the wedding was to be held. During a week with which showers had been forecast most days, we were blessed with a clear sunny day – which was great as the wedding and entertainment was held outdoors.
The bride and groom had organised lots of fun activities for the guests after the ceremony – a coffee van, barefoot bowls, a high tea reception… and the kids weren’t left out either with pony rides which proved very popular!
And most importantly the gorgeous couple looked so happy and in love. I don’t think my bride stopped smiling the entire day!
I met gorgeous smiley Lynx on a very hot day for some portraits in one of Perth’s hidden locations, this happy little rainbow tunnel. I love this location as it’s so well protected, great for baby and children’s photos, and such vivid colours which look great on the children’s bedroom walls as a canvas or print.
Don’t you just love his rolls! So cute.
And as it was nearing Easter when his session was held, we did an Easter setup as well in a nearby shady garden. His mama loves Easter so it fit in really well, and Lynx was fascinated with the little pastel eggs.
Would you like a rainbow tunnel portrait session with your own children? The colours look fantastic as a canvas or framed print on your child’s bedroom wall. Contact me for more details!
1 year old and we’re at the final milestone session… we made it through his first year! I love this age – their personalities are shining through, they can sit, some can stand, and so the range of different poses I can capture them in just explodes! As you will have seen if you have been following my blog, I did a photo session each month with my little boy. However most people’s budget does not allow for this, and so I would suggest milestone sessions – newborn, 3 months when they are getting quite good at tummy time, sitting (usually about 5-9 months old), and then the first birthday milestone session.
Grey is a cheeky fellow, so I took that literally in this setup and put his cute little tush on display! He’ll thank me for that when he’s older I’m sure 😀
It took me a while to get that pose… he really wanted to crawl all around and explore the studio.
The blackboard backdrop I saw on Pinterest and loved the idea. It is such a fantastic way of keeping track of the little details that you may otherwise forget… the words they have learned, what they love doing at this age, how tall they are etc.
And to top it all off, he stood unsupported for the first time ever, during the session and I got it all on camera!
If you’d like a milestone session or package of sessions for your own bundle of joy, please contact me. I have some session packages here, to give you an idea of what I can do for you, but this is not all I do. I’m more than happy to incorporate your ideas, for example if you wish to have several photo sessions throughout the first year as your baby achieves various milestones.

Early this year I put out a model call for a baby approaching their first birthday to do some painting for me. I’m going to be offering paint splash sessions, intended for baby’s first birthday (but really can be done at any age) and needed some images for clients to see. I was pleasantly amazed with the amount of responses I got, but then I had the hard job of choosing just one baby. Hayden was my final pick, and he didn’t let us down!
He is a real little artist! I think any parent would be proud to display their child’s first artwork in their home, but what a gorgeous piece Hayden created (with just a little help from his grandad) 🙂
He had us all in stitches at the face he made when he tasted the paint. Hayden, thank you for being such a great model!
I love cake smashes! It’s so much fun watching a baby discover anything new, and something new and messy is even better when there’s a camera to capture the evidence!
Spoons make great props and really encourage a slightly hesitant child to have a go!
He’s got such a dynamic range of expressions 🙂
I offer cake smashes as a package, with 6-12 high-resolution digital images from the session plus a storyboard of the images (similar to the layout above) on USB, the same images, watermarked, in a size suitable for sharing on social media, and a 12×12″ canvas, framed print or aluminium print of the storyboard. Cleanup is included. All you need to bring is your baby and a cake!
Another option to celebrate the first year is a paint splash. These are become more popular and for good reason – babies love painting! With a paint splash you also get to take home your baby’s finished artwork which is done on a large canvas, as well as the digital images and choice of print as per a cake smash. Paint splashes are best done outdoors.
The second last instalment of my year long project – from newborn to toddler!
This was an outdoor shoot and my theme was bubbles. I quickly found because of the windy afternoon, I really needed an assistant, and a three year old spilling bubble mix every time I turned just wasn’t cutting it! However I’m quick to adapt to the situation and we ended up getting some fantastic shots in the gorgeous afternoon light! We’d been very lucky with the day I picked, this particular fortnight had been showers nearly every afternoon.
For my baby boy’s 10 month old photo, I recreated an idea I’d pinned on Pinterest – a photo of a baby lying on the bed playing with his/her toes, next to mum who was sitting with a cup of black coffee. All that was in shot of mum was her legs and the coffee cup. The image to me was clearly indicating the link between cute babies and lack of sleep, resulting in the need for either more sleep or more likely, caffeine to make it through the day!
I’ve done mine with white coffee as that’s what I drink, and my baby is older than the initial postpartum haze of sleep deprivation… but I have found with both babies I get the most tired the first few months back at work, so this is my take on it. Photo kindly taken by Rob.
Beautiful spring flowers were out in abundance when it came time to take my baby’s 9 month photos, and as luck would have it we had a glorious warm weekend afternoon where the boys and I had come back from the shops in time to get to this location before sunset.
Just in the nick of time too… less than two weeks later I drove past to discover it had been mown by the council.
