This session is done as a lifestyle type shoot – baby may be awake for some or all of the images and posing will be simple. For this reason it is also suited for babies older than 14 days.
Included in the package fee are 9 digital images chosen by me, plus a collage of the 9 images on USB.

Information

I photograph newborns in the nude (no nappy), so all you need to bring is wipes, nappies and clothes for the ride home, and a dummy or other soother if you use one. If you’re not breastfeeding, bring formula and sterilised water as baby will probably need several top-ups during the session to keep them sleeping. I can provide a privacy screen for breastfeeding if needed. There will be a comfortable chaise longue for Mum to rest on whilst I am working. Bring magazines, a book, your laptop/tablet to keep yourself occupied and some water or snacks as it can take some time to settle your newborn and pose them for each shot. Newborn sessions last 3-4 hours depending on how sleepy your baby is. If you’d like some family shots, let me know before your session and we will take them at the start of the session. This is also the best time to take sibling shots, and then Dad or another family member can take the older children home while Mum stays for the baby’s session.

You can help by keeping baby awake as long as you can before the shoot, and feeding them just before you leave home, ensuring they’ll be asleep or sleepy by the time you arrive at my studio. I also ask for just Mum and Dad or just Mum to be present in the studio with baby, with the exception of the start of the shoot when we can do family and sibling shots with your newborn. I suggest someone else comes with you in this case, to look after the siblings or take them home after their photos.

A non-refundable deposit of $200 is payable at the time of booking to secure your date.

I will arrange a viewing & ordering appointment approximately two weeks after the shoot, and a delivery appointment after your order has been printed for you to take home your print products.
